Our commitment to District 2
We are dedicated to bringing together members of our District who feel ignored. Our focus is on addressing critical issues such as rural road conditions, protecting private property rights, ensuring proper public input on development, safeguarding local infrastructure and the environment, eliminating state tax, increasing funding for rural law enforcement, and supporting medical marijuana to combat opiate addiction.

About Des Marais
Christopher Des Marais is a dedicated candidate for District 2 of the South Carolina State House of Representatives. With a deep commitment to our community, Des Marais aims to represent the voices that have been overlooked and bring about meaningful change. Chris retired from law enforcement in New York and moved his family to South Carolina. While his children attended school in the District of Oconee County he volunteered for the School Improvement Councils at Fair-Oak Elementary, West-Oak Middle and West-Oak High School. In 2017-2018 he was Chairperson of West-Oak Hs and school Volunteer of the Year. He also volunteered for Fairplay Recreation Department and Fair Play Rotary. From 2019-2025 Chris served the state as a member of the South Carolina State Guard, a sergeant in the Provost Marshall and currently holds a Governors Commission as a South Carolina State Constable (Advanced).
Chris has earned an Associates Degree in Environmental Science, Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Bachelors Degree in History/Legal Studies and a Maters Degree in Liberal Studies. He also held a New York State Teaching License, Class 1 New York State Law Enforcement Certification and numerous certifications through the New York State Criminal Justice Academy.
